The seminar will equip attendees to navigate the extensive document with ease ensuring a comprehensive understanding of every critical aspect in just one seminar.
Our focus will be on the Key Insights & Essentials introduced in the new guidelines, ensuring fender systems are designed, manufactured and tested to the highest standards leaving no room for interpretation or ambiguity. It will cover crucial chapters including:
- Chapter 5 – Berthing Energy
- Chapter 6 – Fender System Selection
- Chapter 8 – Fender System Components Design
- Chapter 10 – Test Procedures of Marine Fenders
All of them rounding out the Holistic Approach, which has been advocated by SFT since 2017. It is with great pride that this approach is now recognized in the new guidelines.

Dominique Polte |
Dominique Polte has built a notable career in the maritime industry over the past two decades, marked by significant experience in fender design, manufacturing, and testing. Dominique joined FenderTeam GmbH as a Sales Manager in 2007 just after the company was founded. Then quickly advanced to Sales Director and Partner in the company. In 2009, Dominique initiated the start of the US operation and moved to the US in 2010 to head the markets in the Americas as President of ShibataFenderTeam Inc. In 2016, he was appointed to the board of the company, a role is has held since. He actively contributes to PIANC International, the World Association for Waterborne Transport Infrastructure. Over the last four years, he has been particularly involved in Working Group 211, which was responsible for the preparation and publishing of the PIANC Fender Guidelines 2024. In this group, Dominique has served as chapter lead, supporting the development of safer and more efficient waterborne transport infrastructure worldwide. |
Eduardo Rodero |
Eduardo Rodero graduated in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain. He also holds an MBA from the ESIC Business & Marketing School. In 2013, he began his career at FenderTeam Americas Inc. based in the USA as Sales Manager for the development of Latin American markets. By 2017, Eduardo became a Partner at ShibataFenderTeam Group. That same year, he moved to Spain to establish ShibataFenderTeam Spain SLU., where he has effectively fulfilled his role as Managing Director of the Spanish office since then. An experienced professional, specialized in fender systems, Eduardo has participated actively as member of PIANC Working Group 211 leading chapter 8 on ‘Fender System Component’s Design’ as one of the co-authors in the newly released PIANC Fender Guidelines 2024. |
